The President spoke by phone today with President Bachelet of Chile regarding bilateral and broader economic issues. The President reiterated his condolences for the loss of life and destruction caused by the September 16 earthquake and inquired about the status of rebuilding and recovery efforts. The leaders also discussed the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, highlighting the importance of the initiative for our bilateral and regional economic cooperation and agreeing on the need for further progress in resolving remaining issues. The leaders looked forward to the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings and cooperation on other issues, including the upcoming Oceans Conference in October that Chile will host.
