National Security Advisor Susan E. Rice met today with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Jordan Nasser Judeh at the White House.  Ambassador Rice expressed appreciation for Jordan’s continued leadership in the region, particularly as it relates to the Counter-ISIL coalition, and reiterated the United States’ enduring commitment to Jordan’s security and stability.   Ambassador Rice briefed Foreign Minister Judeh on President Obama’s decisions to amplify U.S. measures to combat ISIL, including through enhancing counter-ISIL military assistance to Jordan, and the two discussed next steps to support a political transition in Syria, following productive discussions among regional and international partners in Vienna on October 30.  Regarding the situation in Jerusalem, Ambassador Rice recognized Jordan’s efforts to de-escalate tensions surrounding Jerusalem’s Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount.
